2009-12-30: Autumn
It
´s been a slow season in the garage. I have started with the jigs for the suspension and so far made the two front upper A-arms. The rear uprights is back from Kephos treatment and the front uprights have been assembled. Thank's to help from the LFFR forum I have managed to make a new bearing for the gear linkage.
2009-09-20: RHK Final Falkenberg
I managed to get some practice done at Anderstorp 2 weeks before the final and everything worked well. The weekend at Falkenberg however was troublesome. 5 min in to the first practice the battery went dead. I source another and did 2 more free runs with a best of 48:14 which was 1,5sec faster than the best lap set last year, so I was pretty confident for saturday qualifying. But I just got one flying lap before an oil hose let go. That put me on 18th position on the grid for the first race.
Race 1: I made a decent start and got up to 10th place on lap 3 before the 2nd battery went dead! Both batteries failed within 45 min of running so at least the quality is consistent!
Race 2: I had managed 50:33 in race 1 which put me on 9th position on the grid. The race however went smoothly and I was up to 3rd place on lap 5 and took the lead on lap 12 of 15 finishing the race first with an average lap time of 49,53. However as the start marshal had raised his hand and I rev´ed the engine the car rolled slightly, and I was penalised 30s for jumping the start. So at the end of the day I was 11th.
2009-09-01: Workshop
I have finally got around to fit the pedals in the Lotus 61, the master cylinders have been moved in front of the bulkhead tubes and new brackets have been made. All this is to gain 30mm of legroom. I have the narrow cockpit and I need all the space possible to fit in the car. The fire extinguisher just squezed in beside the fuel tank which have had a layer of GRP as per the FF regulations. My RF85 is once again the workshop for some prep work for the RHK-Cup final at Falkenberg on the 18-20th of September.
2009-07-08: SSM, Knutstorp
Once again I got to borrow Atte´s Hawke. Atte had changed engine since Velodromloppet and there was some minor things to sort out before free practice on friday. Qualifying went well with 3rd place overall just 0,3 sec after two Reynard FF89. Times was almost 1second quicker than last year because of partly new tarmac and STCC visiting the previous weekend laying down a lot of fresh rubber.
First race on saturday. I got a good start as Pentti missed his totally and I was second behind Niklas after the first corner and managed to keep second until lap 5 when Pentti passed me and Niklas. I managed to keep up with both of them during the rest of the race but no opportunity to pass came so I finished third some 9sec before Pelle in 4th place. The second race on sunday was almost the same as the race on saturday except that i started from 2nd due to having the 2nd best time during the 1st race. Pentti got away from pole from Niklas and me. Niklas and I had a great battle during the race and we were seldom more that a car length apart during the whole race. I again finished third 0,24s behind Niklas

2009-06-16: Velodromloppet
For this race, the first for me this season I borrowed Atte´s Hawke DL2a from 1970. Friday practice was a very wet experience with 2 sessions of 25min to try to get aquatinted with the car.
For qualifying we only had 10min to do a good lap. My last lap was the best with a time of 1:13, 596 This game me pole by 0.32s before Pentti in his 1989 Reynard
First race was a easy ride I got a very good start and Pentti missed it totally so I got a gap straight away with only Pelle in his Royale RP24 challenging for the first couple of laps.
The second race was virtually a copy of the first one except that Pelle managed to stay on my tail a little longer.

2009-05-13: Progress
Finally there is some progress! I have been helping Atte with his Hawke DL2a and it´s still in the garage and there is some minor work left to do before his first race at Sturup raceway on the 23rd of May. I have got some parts for the 61, new instruments and the parts are back from surface treatment. It´s always nice to get them back you leave some grubby parts and you get as new parts back. Due to the fact that I´m out of work at the moment I will probably only do 2 races this year Velodromloppet and Falkenberg. Velodromloppet will be in Atte´s Hawke.
2009-03-18: Frame
I have had other things to do and made some parts for the car and just a few items have found it´s way on to frame. A new chassis plate was found on e-bay and I have made a new gear knob in aluminium instead of the heavyweight steel one that came with the car and saved 290 gram!
2009-01-28: Frame
The frame was finally taken to sandblasting today where it will be blasted and then primed.
2009-01-19: Frame
The frame is almost ready for sandblasting. There is just some final details left and to pressure test the water tubes. I´m not sure if I will use them but if they are there they should at least be in working condition.
2009-01-10: Frame
The work on the frame is making slow progress. I have sourced a new diff for the gearbox that was missing when I bought the car and during our christmas trip to New York I brought home an new engine/gearbox adapter. I have also bought new Leda shock absorbers on E-Bay.
