Alpina B3 3.2
I have had the urge to get something entertaining and practical for the road for a while. This summer I bought a BMW Alpina B3 3.2 touring from 1997 with just under 140 000km on the clock.
The car had some issues and had not been used much for the last 3 years. I thought it would be a nice car to have as a side project to my race cars.
There was a knocking sound from the engine and some small stuff that needed sorting.
So far I have fixed the engine, it turned out to be the injector O-ring seals that had become hard and transmitted all the noise from the injectors to the inlet making it sound like a diesel.
I have fixed some small cosmetic rust and given it a thorough polish.
New brake pads front and rear.
New bonnet latch and opening wire.
New chrome grill kidneys instead of the ugly aftermarket black ones.
New boot carpets instead of the stained old ones.
Fixed the rear park distance control.
A complete service with oils plugs, filters etc.
Still to be fixed is an issue with the clutch that's not satisfactory and a technical inspection.

The season is over and I can summarize it as a quite good year. I won Class G for FF!600 cars 1968-71 with my Lotus 61.
The car is now back to its winter storage.

Falkenberg Classic
A mixed fortunes weekend. For this race I have dusted of my old trusty RF85 as I have already won class G in the Lotus 61. It started well on Friday free practice I managed to set some good lap times but had no real indication on what the youngsters lap times was.
Saturday qualifying I managed to set pole position just 0.04s ahead of Victor. But on the last lap I came to far up on the curbs out on the straight and cracked the oil sump.
There was no time to fix it for the 1st race Saturday afternoon so I went back home to get the spare engine for Sundays race. Installed and ready to go for Sunday and it had started to rain. I now had to start last as I didn't have a time from race 1.
I made some progress in the heavy rain but misjudged an overtaking, spun and was hit by another car. The impact wasn't very hard so I could continue but after 2 more laps the front wishbone collapsed.
All loaded on the trailer my Ford Transit decided to give up and I had to get a ride home with Lars-Erik.

2013-08-26:

This track did not suit my Lotus very well as it's very bumpy and the car was bottoming at the rear. I still managed 2 class wins and a 4th and a 5th overall.

2013-07-08:
SSM Knutstorp
The best event of the year. Nice and warm, plenty of competitors and spectators. Two 5th places was the result embarrassing some of the newer cars. I got to test Alf's RF89 during Friday practice which was a nice experience and I could give some needed feedback to Alf.

This was a frustrating weekend with some handling problems on the poor surfaced track.

Season opener saw two races constantly battling with Henrys Van Diemen Rf79 and Bjorn's Merlyn. In race 1 he spun out coming out on to the start/finish straight and I finished 0.5s behind Björn. For the 2nd race Henry kept it together while Björn managed to get ahead of Henry and I.

The car back from its winter storage. I'll have to give it a quick look over before the season starter at Scandinavian Raceway a F1 track during the1973-78 (read more here)

I have bought a Innovate LC-1 lambda sond to try to fine tune the engine which was not very competitive last year. I will probably have to make a new seat to fit comfortably with the new Simpson Hybrid Pro Rage head and neck support.
