GRD F3 #10 1972

The winter 2005-06 project was to restore GRD's first car a 1600cc Formula 3. The car was first made by GRD in 1971 as a Formula Atlantic car with a BDG and a FT200 gearbox. It was shipped to the USA to compete, after that it wa s sent to compete in the Tasman series during the winter 1971-72. When it came back to UK it was converted to F3 spec and was driven by Mo Harness in the UK during the 1972 season.

This was what I started with in autumn 2005. New stays were made and all special fastners where sent of for replating

The engine a F3 Nova Motor based on the Ford Lotus TC 1600cc equiped with Kugelfisher mechanical injection was built by the car owner. The gearbox a 5-spd MK9 with LSD was sent to Leif Norberg Motorsport for overhaul.

Magnesium uprights where sent away for Kephos treatment and new bearings where installed

New electrics where installed along with resored instruments, the electrical fire extinguiser where moved from between the legs to the LH sidepod as only one fuel tank will be used.
